Peter Eulogy

My life stared with Peter 13 years ago and ended in room 4/13 in hospital where he passed away, but, it was in no way unlucky!! I met Peter when I joined the over 50’s Badminton club a few years after an unhappy divorce. We played mainly mixed doubles for a couple of hours followed by a swim, then a coffee. Once I got proficient and Peter did a smash, I managed to just place it over the net saying “Get that Peter”. He later asked me if I like to come out for a sail in his yacht, which led onto living together sailing on the coast of Cornwall and Devon. Whilst I was doing a season’s hunting with the horses he did a fantastic painting of a scene that we looked out at whilst sat moored at Newton Ferrers as a present for me. It was then that I realised what a gifted artist he was. How did a ‘Lancashire lass’ from a farm on the moor who relocated to Cornwall for a better life, with her horses meet a gentlemen who had worked in a bank in London until retiring to Cornwall to build a boat and Sail. “Lets get a motor home and tour France, Spain and Portugal” I said, and so another adventure together started and Peter did some fantastic paintings of scenes from our journeys. Many great times were enjoyed living in Spain gaining friends from Norway, Spain and Belgium as well as our dear English buddies not forgetting Peter’s Irish pal Gerry. He was lucky enough to enjoy a fabulous 80th birthday party last February followed by open heart surgery and regained fitness, enough to enjoy his birthday present from me – a private sail for just the two of us for Tabarco Island – see picture. After battling through all the storms that life throw at him with 10 admissions to hospital Peter finally sailed on into the sunset.
